Novel: In Development
A sci-fi thriller set in the mid-21st century.
It’s 2053, and medical breakthroughs have eradicated chronic disease. Retired inventor, Forrest Morton, worked on a small part of the new technology, and is now a grateful patient of the MedImplant Corporation.
When he is distracted from his garden by the noise of airplanes high above, he is amazed by a beautiful atmospheric event. Behind the planes, a cloud forms and catches the fading sunlight. It descends as a mist and finally settles all around him, It triggers a memory from a lab he visited years earlier, and in that moment he realizes the technology he helped shape has been subverted for a new purpose.
Forrest gathers his old team to investigate. They uncover a trail of covert operations leading to a network of intelligence contractors collaborating with MedImplant insiders. The team soon finds their inquiries have made them a high-priority target.
The team must use all their skills to stay ahead of the shadowy figures pursuing them, while facing betrayal and deception within.
Around the world in Congo, the MedImplant Corporation has built a manufacturing hub and transformed the nation’s economy. Two of its employees, Rosy and DK, fall in love. They work together on the deployment of the corrupted technology, believing they are helping with a climate control effort.
Later, they come to realize they are playing a part in a nationwide test of a far more sinister program. As they unravel the truth behind it, their past lives are exposed, putting them in the crosshairs of religious extremists working to hijack MedImplant’s technology.
When the group begins to test its targeting and control systems, it is not only the couple’s romance that is threatened. The group’s members bring their agenda perilously close to home.
Meanwhile, the tests expand to North America, and Forrest’s team faces new adversaries – the same secretive fundamentalists at work in Congo. Forrest discovers they have the ability to exploit MedImplant treatments for targeted attacks, and he is on the list.
If he continues his treatments, they will be used to kill him. If he gives them up he can continue to fight, but will succumb to his terminal illness.
Can Forrest keep his team together long enough to sabotage the very technology that’s keeping him alive?
Can the team expose the religious extremists plotting to impose their radical beliefs, before millions around the world are put to death?
This is the story of the NanoNet. A race to find weaknesses in a universal surveillance network, to sabotage medical technology that first delivered miraculous benefits but is now used to kill, and to thwart the extremists behind it all, before they can force all of humanity to conform to their rigid view of good and evil.
